The fine print
Rules & entry terms
Hunks of Whitstable is a light-hearted community campaign — but we still take entrants' safety, consent, and dignity seriously. Please read this in full before entering.
Eligibility
- Entrants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Entries from anyone under 18 will be rejected and deleted.
- Entrants should have a genuine connection to Whitstable, whether that's living locally, working locally, or being an active part of the community.
- By submitting an entry, you confirm that all information and photos provided are your own and accurate.
What you need to submit
- First name, email address, and mobile number.
- A short answer to "What would winning mean to you?"
- Four required photos: a casual photo, a fitness photo, a swimwear/underwear photo, and a formal (black tie) photo.
- Optionally, additional photos for the judging panel's own reference. These extra photos will never be published or shared publicly.
Photo standards
- All photos must be tasteful. We're aiming for confident and fun, not explicit — nudity, sexually explicit content, or content depicting anyone other than the entrant will not be accepted.
- You must own the rights to any photo you submit and have taken it with your own consent.
- Photos should not identify or feature any other person without their separate, written consent.
- The organising team reserves the right to reject any photo, or any entry, at its sole discretion — including if we believe an entrant is under 18 or has misrepresented themselves.
How judging and publication works
- All entries are reviewed by the organising panel before any shortlisting takes place.
- Twelve finalists are selected to feature in the 2027 calendar, one per month.
- Only the four required photo categories (casual, fitness, swimwear, formal) may be published for shortlisted finalists — never the optional extra photos.
- The public will be invited to vote for their favourite among the twelve finalists, with the winner crowned King of Whitstable at a community event.
Consent and withdrawal
- Your contact details (email, mobile) are used only by the organising team to manage the competition and will not be shared or sold to third parties.
- You may withdraw your entry and request deletion of your photos and details at any time by emailing hello@wearewhitstable.com.
- If shortlisted, your consent to publish your four required photos in the calendar and related promotion will be confirmed with you again before anything goes to print.
Data handling
- Entry details and photos are stored securely and accessed only by the organising team.
- Details of entrants who are not shortlisted, or who withdraw, will be deleted within a reasonable period after the competition concludes.
